It was a love story that started over a year back and has only strengthened further during the six month long lockdown. Both Pulkit Samrat and Kriti Kharbanda have been pretty much enjoying their company and aren’t shying away from making it known on the social media. However, their off screen romance won’t quite translate into on screen rendezvous, what with the youngsters not been paired opposite each other in their latest release Taish.
Laughs Pulkit, “Yeah, as a matter of fact Kriti and I have the least number of scenes together. She is opposite Jim (Sarbh) in the film and the character that I play (Sunny) is his best friend from childhood. So basically she enacts the love interest of my best friend in the film. In fact there is a bromance of sort that I have with Jim and as a result of that we both have far more romantic scenes with each other.”
Together, Pulkit and Kriti were last seen in Anees Bazmee’s comedy Pagalpanti. For both the actors, the arrival of Taish is quite exciting since they would be seen in an altogether different light, especially Pulkit who has traditionally been seen in much lighter roles or in a romantic avtar.
“I am playing someone who is quite fun loving and is the party kind. Later in the story though, my character is driven by rage. As a matter of fact be it Jim Sarbh, Harshvardhan Rane or myself, each of us is driven by rage in the film. We just bring on three different perspectives of Taish; that’s the most interesting part about the world that Bejoy Nambiar has set for the film,” says Pulkit.
It has been a major transition for Pulkit after working on films like Fukrey, Fukrey Returns, Sanam Re and Dolly Ki Doli amongst others.
“For me, this whole transition process was great,” says Pulkit, “The story as well as storytelling in the film is so different. I had to bring in a very different kind of thinking as that is something that is justifiable for the character. I didn’t have to judge the character but understand him because if you are yourself not convinced then you can’t perform it well either.”
With the film enjoying all around positive reviews and both Pulkit as well as Kriti gaining accolades for their contrasting performances, one waits to see which is the next film that they end up signing together as a pair as well.
