Box Office – X-Men Apocalypse stays low, dispels myths about ‘artificial benchmarks’ for Hollywood films

X-Men Apocalypse is earning on expected lines, unless the makers would have elevated their hopes basis the handful of Hollywood films that have done well in India. A film with no great franchise value in India can’t be expected to do anything more than 30-35 crore currently (unless there is a huge exception – which by its definition is ‘just an exception’). However, a couple of recent biggies ended up panicking quite a few, and in the process also made many wonder if Hollywood would take over Bollywood.
As is the case today, at least with X-Men Apocalypse this is not happening as the film – with around 2.25 crore* more in its kitty – stands at 23.75 crore* in six days. The film would, at maximum, have a two week run and the final collections would be apt for the movie, if not matched against the artificial benchmarks that have been randomly set.
* Final numbers awaited
Note: All collections as per production and distributor sources
