Box Office – Udta Punjab has a stable Tuesday, approaches 50 cr in Week One

Udta Punjab brought in 4 crore on Tuesday and with this, the collections now stand at 42.3 crore. Since the film has dropped further, it would be a touch and go for the Abhishek Chaubey film to hit the 50 crore mark after its first week.

 

That said, it would still feature in Top-5 Week One of 2016 as the other big money spinners so far are as below:

 

Airlift – 83.5 crore

Housefull 3 – 80.1 crore

Fan – 71.5 crore

Baaghi – 59.72 crore

Udta Punjab – 49.5 crore (expected)

Kapoor & Sons – 46.93 crore

 

What has to be noted is that this Ekta Kapoor and Phantom film is the only ‘A’ certificate film to feature in the list, which makes the number look better.

 

It has to be seen how film carries its weight into the second week as that would decide if it would turn out to be the highest grosser ever for Shahid Kapoor. His other biggies so far are:

 

R… Rajkumar – 66 crore

Haider – 60 crore

Kaniney – 44 crore

 

While Udta Punjab will certainly cross Haider, it would be a tight finish with R… Rajkumar.
