Salman Khan is set to have one of his biggest opening ever with Sultan. Though one waits to see if he would be able to go past his best opening day as well [Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (40.35 crore)], rest assured he would be second best at the least. This is how the opening of his films stands so far:

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo – 40.35 crore

Ek Tha Tiger – 33 crore

Bajrangi Bhaijaan – 27.25 crore

Kick – 26.52 crore

Dabangg 2 – 21 crore

Sultan could well have scored the biggest ever opening day had it arrived on a holiday across the country. However, unlike Prem Ratan Dhan Payo which had arrived on Diwali, a national holiday all over, Sultan is releasing on Eid and not all offices/workplaces are closed on Wednesday, 6th July.

That said, the film could surprise by taking a bumper start even in such a scenario and top the 40 crore mark. The film is arriving amidst huge hype and is set to feature as one of the best opening day ever in history. The records so far for the opening day are held by:

Happy New Year – 42.6 crore

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo – 40.35 crore

Dhoom 3 – 36.22 crore

Chennai Express – 33.1 crore

Ek Tha Tiger – 33 crore

Even if Sultan features anywhere in this Top-5 list, it would still be great since the film has a massive weekend awaiting it. With a record release size being planned by Yash Raj Films, director Ali Abbas Zafar has a stage wide open for his film. Expect many records to be broken as the film proceeds during next five days.

Note: All collections as per production and distributor sources
