Box Office – Rajinikanth’s Kabali to see BIGGEST opening ever for him, Madari to run on word of mouth

After last week’s solo release Great Grand Masti, it is back to commotion at the Box Office, what with as many as six films releasing this weekend. These are Madaari, Kabali, M Cream, Ishq Click, Love Ke Funday and M.A. Pass. Out of these, the two films that have seen some kind of promotion are Madari and Kabali.

Let us begin with Madari first. The Nishikant Kamat directed film has been ready for some time now and was hunting for the right time period to release. The film’s release date was turned around for a couple of times but now it is finally arriving tomorrow. The promo gives an impression of a niche product in the offering, though it has an interesting premise. Moreover, word in the town is that Irrfan Khan has come up with yet another (expectedly) wonderful performance. Testimonials already floating on the social media have ensured that there is some buzz that has been generated in last 10 days at the least.

All of this means that the Irrfan Khan starrer has done well form the awareness perspective when it comes to its target (big city) audience. Hence, though from the opening perspective there won’t be much to say, it at least has a chance to grow if there is appreciation, as was the case with Talvar which belonged to similar stage and setting.

The other film that is notable is Kabali. Its South version is set to arrive as a hurricane all across the globe and rest assured, it would mark the biggest opening day ever for a Rajinikanth starrer. Same can’t be said about the Hindi version though which is arriving without much of a publicity. Comparatively, Baahubali was much better promoted for Hindi speaking audience. The film would have to find huge word of mouth to travel from South to North in order for its Hindi version to work. That said, it won’t be surprising if the opening day collection of Kabali (Hindi) are similar to that of Madari!
