In the times of lockdown when OTT platform has come as a rescue for those starved of weekly dose of Bollywood flicks, there are quite a few that have released in the recent times – 26/11 State of Siege, Special Ops, Hashmukh, Four More Shots Please 2 and Hundred to name just a few. Fortunately, a few more are in the pipeline as well and though one waits for the formal release announcement as well with the exact dates, these are in the offering for sure.
Breathe 2 – Amazon Prime
One of the early entrants in the OTT space, Breathe was special as a 2018 release. As a cop, Amit Sadh had a job to nab a common man turned criminal [Madhavan]. Both the actors gave a superb account of themselves. Now with Abhishek Bachchan stepping into the arena, Amit has apparently further toughened up in this Vikram Malhotra and Mayank Sharma created series.
Abhay 2 – ZEE5
When Abhay released last year, it threw a pleasant surprise with Kunal Kemmu doing exceedingly well as a UP based brooding cop out to solve the deadliest and meanest of crimes. While every episode of this Ken Ghosh created series threw a new case, personal story of Kunal raised intrigue. The crimes are now expected to take an even more evil route in the second season.
Kamathipura – Amazon Prime
Go deep into the underbelly of Mumbai and you realize there is a different world out there. Kamathipura is one such red light area known for sex trade and for the first time in India a web series has been made around this. Tanuj Virwani [Inside Edge, Poison] goes all dark and dangerous in Kamathipura, a web series by the same name, that has Meerra Chopra playing a cop.
Baarish 2 – ALT Balaji and ZEE5
It was a beautiful love story that had been witnessed in Baarish with Sharman Joshi and Asha Negi defying all odds and coming together. Now in the second season, their relationship goes to the next level, only to find some hurdles coming in the way. Veteran actor Jeetendra makes an appearance too as a marriage counselor in Baarish 2 which is set to be streamed soon.
Avrodh – Sony LIV
Amit Sadh recently completed 10 years in Bollywood and will now celebrate it with his next web series, Avrodh. Based on India’s surgical strike on Pakistan, the action drama thriller has Amit playing the part of Major Tango, the Army officer who spearheaded this attack. Uri-The Surgical Strike is already a blockbuster and this one too should follow suit on OTT platform.
Cartel – ALT Balaji and ZEE5
This one is truly a biggie in the offering. Cartel is one of the most ambitious web series put together for the OTT medium and has Tanuj Virwani in the lead again after Inside Edge. Also starring Ravi Kishan, Vidya Malwade, Rithvik Dhanjani and Kubra Sait in principle roles, this is one is a high decibel drama with good dose of action also in the offering.
REJCTX 2 – ZEE5
When REJCTX had released, it had turned out to be a success amongst the lovers of crime thrillers. Now that the second season of the show is arriving, it has turned out to be special as Esha Gupta would be making her debut on the OTT medium. Teaser of REJCTX 2 has already been unveiled and one now waits to see the release of full-fledged trailer too before release.
The Family Man 2 – Amazon Prime
Inarguably, The Family Man is one of the most loved Indian web series to have been released on a major OTT platform. The manner in which Raj & DK put together this spy thriller with Manoj Bajpayee as ‘the family man’ out on a mission to save the country no less, one can well expect the second season to go to the next level with Manoj Bajpayee leading the show.
A Married Woman – ALT Balaji and ZEE5
With more and more series pushing the envelope, A Married Woman too is aiming for the same with a story about same-sex relationship between two women. Based on a book by the same name, A Married Woman features Ridhi Dogra and Monica Dogra and narrates a love story that blossomed against the backdrop of 1992 riots that ensued after Babri Masjid demolition.
Mirzapur 2 – Amazon Prime
This is one series that has managed to find a cult following for itself, ever since it was streamed in late 2018. It has been one long wait for the second season to be unveiled, what with fans and followers of the show already waiting for the escapades of Guddu bhaiyaa [Ali Fazal], Kaleen Bhaiyaa [Pankaj Tripathi] and Munna Bhaiyaa [Duvyendu Sharma].
