Much anticipated promo of one of the most awaited films of the year, Sultan, has released. There have been great expectations with the film, and hence the promo has to be super extraordinary as well. Here are my initial thoughts:
- Director Ali Abbas Zafar pretty much knows that he has to cater to a huge fan base of Salman Khan. Hence, the promo too is much more crowd friendly than Salman’s last two films – Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo
- Right from the entry to the closing point of the promo, there are Salman Khan mannerisms that would send crowds in ruptures
- The story seems very predictable though. Actually, practically everything is right up there in promo and hence unless there is a major suspense/twist element, the film would run primarily on Salman power than the story element per se
- Randeep Hooda is a pleasant surprise in the promo. I wish he has a good part to play in the film
- Anushka Sharma is cute, especially in her first dialogue shot. I look forward to how much role she has in the film. Currently it looks like as much as that of Kareena Kapoor Khan in Bajrangi Bhaijaan
- Music seems situational, which would be pretty much for the narrative
- The film’s rustic appeal means that Delhi NCR, Punjab and Rajasthan would be huge on the opening weekend. As for the rest of the country, it would good to begin with and then would boil down to word of mouth
- Overall, the promo may not be super-extraordinary but is enough to keep (a very huge) fan base of Salman Khan happy
- Personally, I would love to watch the film in a single screen theater
