Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has fetched a weekend of 35.6 crore [Friday – 13.3 crore, Saturday – 13.1 crore, Sunday – 9.2 crore]. Now considering the fact that this is a pre-Diwali weekend, the numbers are good since none of the three days have worked to an optimal level. That said, it should all get compensated on Monday since the eventually, the four day collections for the Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan flick (expected to cross 50 crore) would be pretty much on the same lines as what the film would have collected had it released on a regular weekend.

The film, despite festivities hitting it to a good extent (especially on Saturday and Sunday), has managed to find a spot in the Top-10 opening weekend of romantic musicals. Here is the list:

Dilwale – 64.09 crore

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani – 62.11 crore

Ram Leela – 51.49 crore

Jab Tak Hai Jaan – 49.22 crore

Bajirao Mastani – 46.77 crore

Baaghi – 38.58 crore

2 States – 37.62 crore

Cocktail – 36 crore

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil – 35.6 crore

Shaandaar – 27.4 crore

Incidentally, four out of these films have Karan Johar associated with them. These are Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, 2 States, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shaandaar. Each of the films in this list, except for Shaandaar, had managed a good lifetime total eventually. While Dilwale had managed 148 crore, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani had shot up the charts big time to register 188.92 crore. Even Bajirao Mastani had hit it out of the park with 188 crore.

Though these films seem out of reach for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil when it comes to the lifetime total, the romantic musical would be primarily competing with Jab Tak Hai Jaan [122 crore] and Ram Leela [118.7 crore] for the eventual lifetime total. It should comfortably go past 2 States [102 crore] though.

Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
