Box Office – Shivaay stays steady on Sunday, now all eyes on the BIG weekdays ahead
By Joginder Tuteja
Shivaay has managed to score a fair weekend at the Box Office. The best collections for the weekend had to come on Friday since pre-Diwali festivities would have anyways put a dent in collections on Saturday and Sunday. Nonetheless, the film managed to hold on well [Friday: 10.24 crore, Saturday: 10.06 crore, Sunday: 8.26 crore] and eventually brought in 28.56 crore.
On a regular weekend, the Ajay Devgn produced, directed and acted film would have challenged the weekend numbers of other action flicks of 2016 – Baaghi [38.58 crore] and Dishoom [37.32 crore]. However, the records that the film should be chasing now are the Week One total of both these films. While Baaghi had collected 59.72 crore after a one week run, Dishoom had brought in 53.34 crore. For that to happen, the film would have to collect around 25 crore in the rest of the weekdays, while a chunk of these numbers would have to come today.
As things stand today, this should be possible and if the film actually manages to come in the vicinity of 15 crore today, it would be a good platform for Shivaay to further stabilize on.
